How do you imagine Dublin in 2022? How might we shape Dublin over the next ten years to make it the best city it can be?
Over the last nine-weeks, five teams of designers, architects, engineers, artists, activists and programmers have been coming up with ideas for urban initiatives that could help shape Dublin over the next ten years. As part of the evening education programme at Science Gallery, these teams have been developing their ideas with the help of experts and mentors and applying the concept to the Dublin 8 area.
This Tuesday, they will present the results to the public.
In a fast-paced series of 5-minute presentations, each team will introduce you to their vision for Dublin 8 in 2022 and their idea for making it happen.
Topics will include research findings on multicultural provisions in the area, along with primary designs sketches for innovative community-driven products and services. We'll have presentations on ideas like GYM (Gardens You Manage) an online system for managing urban community gardens; RayD8, a community sharing and exchange platform; an augmented reality history walk that takes your mood and energy levels into account; and Crowd Art, a system which enables communities to select and vote on the public art they want in their area.
Then you'll have a chance to offer your own thoughts and feedback in a discussion that will explore the potential impact of the idea and ask what the benefits might be to Dublin's city-dwellers. Also featuring guest presentations by rooftop gardeners, Urban Farm. Read more here.
